What if...What if you could have someone pick a card and sign it, tear it in half, slam it into the deck, and find a card that is half one card, half their card with the signature? I think this could be an amazing effect, and I have some vague concept of how it could be done.Should I post my idea? I trust that nobody here will steal it, and it would be great to get input from everyone. |

1. Why? 2. Why does a spectator care? I think the concept is an okay one, a bit ellusionisty, but i think it has some potential. Although, it's Reuben, who ever listens to me. |

I guess it sounds similar on paper, but Joshua's effect and mine are pretty different. And Reuben, good point with the "who cares" comment (I see you just read Brian's post, as did I). I need to think of some justification; right now I have something along the lines of this: Tell the spectator you are going to let him onto a little secret. Cards, like some people, have split personalities. (You say, "A card can go from one mood" *show three of clubs* "to another like that!" *snap, and the three turns to a jack. Now, there is only one way to help the cards with their problems. They take medicine, but it must be distributed through ink. So the spectator needs to sign their chosen card. "Now," you say, "the SPLIT personality" *rip the card in half width-wise as you say SPLIT* "problem will get better. Oh, wait, the card doesn't have any insurance! There was no medicine in the pen." *show the half of the card that was signed has vanished* "What was your card again? The nine of diamonds?" Go through the deck and you find that the nine of diamonds is half itself (signed), and half a different card. Put the ripped half you hold up to the new card, and they match! Yeah, I know. It sucks. Any ideas for patter? |

I just posted what I thought, lol. I'm a bit confused in your patterlines and your premise, there is too much confusion, and misbelief. As in, you keep telling things to the spectator is supposed to believe until it gets to the point where they may stop believing. But interesting idea. |

I'm confused.
One half of the signed card vanishes (blank card now? Changes to a different half a card? Totally gone?). Spread through the cards, there is now a card half signed selection, half random card. Is that right? |

Sorry, let me explain it better.
The card is signed at the top. You rip the card in half. The half with the signature vanishes (the whole thing, not just the ink on it). Then you go through the deck and one card is half the ripped signature card and half a different card. |

I think I get it now. What about this: Spectator picks a card, the 3 of clubs. You lose it in the pack and produce the wrong card- the 6 of clubs. No worries, you have it signed then rip it in half- it's now the 3!... sorta. You apologize for the lame joke, but explain you can use the piece to find the right one. Bam. It vanishes. Spread through the pack it's fused with the 3.... That's pretty much as far as I'd be willing to work on it. I commend you for being creative (it's SOOOOO important!) but I think this premise isn't a great one. Sorry Teddy. Ben |

I also had the same idea Ben described, I have been using it on a casual basis for a while..... Three of Clubs selected, find Six of clubs, tear it in half, changes to the Three of Clubs. It's a great impromptu quickie.
I don't fully understand your idea Teddy, and it makes little sense to me. I honestly don't know how that could be justified in any logical way. |

Although there has been a lot of bashing teddy, i do think it has a visual impact potential. I mean, if you could incorporate the half card attached to something else, not just a random card, it could be cool, such as a card with your signature or something (justify any way you want). keep working on it, seriously.

And teddy maybe it you had two spectators sing two different cards and then kinda have a "coming together" effect where two people come together on the same (kinda) card |

Hmm... Me likey. I'll have to work on a method for that. And I'm not offended by any comments; I asked if you thought it would work and the general answer was no, so I'll abandon the idea. On the plus side, I got some good ideas that are similar, like Liam's and Ben's. Thanks guys! |

There's the source. Wes James released Fusion, can't remember the source though. Doc Eason popularized it with his Anniversary Waltz. I do a GREAT version, impromptu, by Karl Andrew (great not because of me, but because of Karl's structure)- the best though involves a simple gaff. Hope that helps! |

I like Mike Skutt's Anniversary Waltz effect called Couple Card. It makes no major contributions to the plot but it's very powerful. | ||||
