Weird SpectatorsI have a story to share...
I was in Toronto outside a church with a group of magicians, waiting to go see Eric Mead's lecture. A young magician I just met was talking with me when all of a sudden, a very scary guy stumbled right in front of us, grunting. He absolutely stunk of alcohol and was extremely intimidating. He kept bumping into us in his drunken tizzy and didn't say a single word... just let out mild grunts, and kept patting our decks of cards. He seemed to want to see a magic effect. I, being a clean-cut Hamiltonian, backed away, greatly intimidated and usure of what to do. However my friend showed him a quick card location effect (apparently a Toronto resident), and then he chuckled quietly and stumbled away, down the street.
Ever run into any very weird spectators? One's you've found funny, or intimidating, or just plain scary? How did you handle them?

Either my Dad or my friend Greg. My dad doesn't care for patter at all of any kind for some reason, the funniest guy in the world could be talking and he would just say "yeah" everytime they said something. My friend Greg is the most rational person i've ever met, meaning that if you show him a trick, he'll probably state how did it more or less quite easily. He laughed when he saw the chicago opener (it was a vid of someone else) because he said it was so obvious that the blue card was always that card and they just pulled cards from the top. He even saw me perform a copper silver transposistion and then proceded to work out how I did it in 5 seconds. The only tricks that fool him are massive knuckle busters that appear impossible (dnd trilogy got him pretty good except for one or two things). I deal with them by not showing them tricks, I show people that I know will freak out and not constantly guess about what i'm doing. Like one girl that whenever I overhand shuffle she'll automatically say "I know what your doing." Anyway, just avoid them and find good specators.

i'm sure i've posted this story somewhere, but my favourite spectators approached me a a farmers market
it was three guys about my age who walked up, obviously hoping they had found someone to laugh at. I performed Bodyg guards, and after their card had vanished, they stopped laughing.
when it was in my pocket, they started swearing and emptying their pockets into my tip bowl
it was fun
