Unnamed, but good.I just made a new trick. I'll make a video soon!
Effect:
Magician tells the spectator to name a card. The spectator does so (in this case let's say the 5 of diamonds). The magician tells the spectator to count four cards from the top of the deck and put them face-down on a table, the floor, etc. The magician tells the spectator to put the fifth one to the side of the pile of four cards he just made. (Keep in mind, if the spectator said "6 of diamonds" he would have put down 6 cards, 7 for 7 of diamonds, and so on, regardless of the suit.)
The magician then puts the four other cards back into the deck and goes on about how impossible it would be, because all he did was count the number of the card the spectator named, blah blah blah. He spreads the deck face-up so that the spectator can see there was only one 5 of diamonds and the deck was in no particular order. Finally, the magician tells the spectator to flip over the card and it really is the 5 of diamonds.
Questions you might ask:
1. Is it hard to perform?
Not really, but you have to have some skill at misdirection.
2. Are there any gimmicks?
-Nope. It can even be done with a borrowed deck.
3. Is anything palmed?
-Nothing is palmed!
4. Is it angle-proof?
-Almost. There are some angle issues, but for the most part it's good.
I performed this to my mother, who can figure out almost any card trick (she figured out Fallen in a second), and she was baffled. So was my sister, who hates my tricks. I think this one has true postential.

Glad you're trying to create magic! But Ethan's right. This has been donme to death and I doubt it's a new method you've got... no offense to you, but it is hard as hell to come up with original card magic these days. That's why I recommend you read the Your Magic essay on this website.

I don't know, this method seems pretty unique!
Seriously, I'm 99.9% sure this method hasn't been used. But I'll research it.

Teddy,
If you'd like to write up the method briefly and send it to me, I'll gladly look it over and confer with some other magicians to see if the method is original. My email is: contact@brianmillermagic.com

I think I will, because I'd love to hear a professional magician's opinion.
Don't steal it, though!
