The Death Of Magicanada?Sorry guys, but it's been going down-hill here recently. Despite the mass emails I occasionally send to members, only about 5 still sign on and only two even post anything.
What can I do?

I say don't worry about it. The forum is free and takes almost nothing to maintain. The five or so of us that post regularly enjoy it quite a bit. Either it will pick up again over time or it won't, but for now it's still a good thing for the people involved.

i love it here because everyone here is so knowledgable!
i dont think it will die
it will probably go into many low points like the one we're in now, but it wont die as long as there are always atleast two active members.
and i plan on always being one of them

Thank you guys for your support. I am working on getting some fresh faces around here and before you know it, the forums will be better than ever! Just have to give it time... this forum hasn't even been around for a year yet!

That's the spirit guys! And Michael, I don't think the mass emails are bothering anyone. Anyone who wasn't planning on posting here anyway won't care, and anyone who was planning on posting isn't going to be turned off by them. Mass emails from public sites that you're a member of is just part of the marketing strategy. It's accepted.

To be honest, Mike, you should create a weekly topic to discuss, or we should each take turns havign a debate over a general topic such as what makes a good magician, sleights patter performance, presentation?
Also, I think that PEOPLE SHOULD BE POSTING MORE INTO FREE MAGIC SECTION!
Its completely dead, and even giving ideas or good props to buy can encourage people to look around in it more.

I have my own 'forum', which has gone through periods like this.
I chose to keep the member list exclusive so that we wouldn't sacrifice quality for quantity.
I've rejected about 200 people for admittance, and the group, which once had 40 people, has been whittled to just over 20.
The problem with this low number is that sometimes the forums dead. It's unfortunate, but thats the nature of the game. I'd rather have GOOD posts then a glut of crap.

Exactly, I don't mind dry spells like this, we ARE a small community after all and it's good that way... it allows for more intimate discussion.
It's always on and off here.

It all depends on what the future brings. I font always have the time to come post. Take for eg. Last Year and the Year before, I could not post much on any forums due to being busy with Paul Philippart and Anja with their shows in SA (Cover of Magic Magazine for Dec 2007 if you do not know who Philippart and Anja are). So far this year, my move to Thailand for a Year or 2 has taken up a lot of time, not to mention that I do not always have a connection. But as usual, I will post when I can. Where did the Escape section go?

I don't think there ever was an escape section... if you want to talk about them just feel free to post in Stage Magic!

But escapes are not stage. They are a completely different section of entertainment, like balloon sculpting and juggling. And I would be glad to help and post to all who have questions on Escapology.
