Reuben-- The UnknownHey everybody, havent been on the forum for a while, caught up in a lot of school work and other things. Anyways, I've been creating a ton of magic lately, and as well all know, its quality not quantity, but I believe I have both here! I'll be posting some of my creations, a couple of which are variations on other things and some (and I have and michael has researched) are original. Some are flourishes, some are ideas, some are sleights, and so on. Hope yuo like them, give some feedback. Thanks!
Here's one to start you off. I'ts called "Four of a kind"
Two cards are freely selected. The first card is replaced into the middle of the pack and left like so. The second one is left on the table, face down.
The magos then proceeds to take out four cards out of the deck that may help him reveal soemthing about the selection. He spreads the, showing all four, then does a cheesy magical gesture. There is now one face down card, and when pulled out is the first selection. The Hungarian Magic Man then places the rest of the three cards onto the deck, and with a snap they immediately change into the other three matches of the selection (for instance the four eights.)
"But I've forgotten about the second selection", the magician says. He puts all four of the revealed cards (say the Eights) faceup in the deck in different positions, and squares up. with another magical gesture, the magician spreads and three face-down cards are found inbetween the Eights. When revealed, are the four Kings (for example). The second selection is turned over and fuond to be the last king.
Any thoughts? Thanks! (this is one of the more complicated creations, well at least not as simple as some others!)

By the way, the Unknown isnt the name of the trick, I just put that as I haven't ever posted a creation of mine on magicanada. Better yet I may just film my creations and post them here. Next one up, TNRTP
The again Hungarian Magos explains to his audience that every human makes mistakes. Everybody, man, woman, or astronomically proportioned Australian infants, we all make mistakes. And when we make a mistake, we always have toilet paper to clean it up, as we don't want any mistakes dripping down our pants now do we?
He then proceeds to take a roll of toilet paper from his case, and asks a spectator to initial carefully with a marker on the first piece. He tells them that this makes sure that thsi piece of toilet paper is his, with his signature. (fill in own justification, hell throw in all different patter because I haven't thought of any yet, except this beautiful piece of garbage. hehe, oxymoron). ANYWAY, the piece is ripped off the roll and shown clearly with the signature to the specs. It's then torn BY THE SPECTATOR, and returned to the magician. The toilet paper ball then vanishes and is found to be never ripped off the roll, WITH the exact same signature there as before. Anybody for methods? I'll reveal mine after I see some ideas!

Reuben, thank you for beginning to post some ideas! It's a great way to gather more opinion and is also a good research aid sometimes. Just so we're clear though, neither of us have established that any of your effects are completely original. It would take tons of research to reach that conclusion and there IS ton of card work out there. I mean, not too many things I've worked on are completely original either. Even The Destiny Effect isn't an original concept (having been tackeld by Edward Marlo, Max Maven, and Paul Harris in the past... although all of which to different effect, with the exception of Marlo's which is similar in effect).
Hopefully, some knowledgable members will help you figure out the origins of your creations. Oh, and your toilet paper method has been done before, by my friend Eric Simmatis (he shared it with me about a year ago).

Hey Ruben,
At first glance I feel like the routine is trying to do to much. Additionally, without knowing you handling, theres no way to see how it flows.
That said...
Modern treatise of the Hofzinser Ace problem (card selected and lost. Four aces are shown, one turns face down. It's the same suit of the selection. When turned over, it IS the selection) have had two "kickers". First, the ace and selection change places ala Switchcraft. Second, the other aces change to match the selections. I've toyed with both, and like the plot. That said, there are many different handlings for accomplishing this.
The problem with phase two (which is an effect I've been working on for about a year and is driving me CRAZY) is Finley's Matching the Cards. The problem with your production of the next three of a kind is that it runs the risk of being anti-climactic. Think about it- you found a selection, then changed a bunch of cards to match. Then... you find some other cards?
Now, it CAN be done, but it'll take some work on your part. Again though, that's all I can say without seeing the handling you're using.
Hope that helps!

Hey Ben, thanks for the advice, glad you didn't totally destroy my hopes and dreams .
Just a little ditty ive been playing aruond with, and I'm working on streamlining it a bit better. The probelm I've had lately is realizing I've been creating for MAGICIANS, I mean all the effects I've created are no forces, all free choices, so in my mind I have the ability to say "SEE ITS ANY CARD AND THE REST OF THE THREE'S STILL APPEAR!"
Also working on alternate methods for the duplicate of the chosen cards to appear.

After you showed me your revised handling today, Reuben, I like it much better... I think you're best off leaving the second phase out.
