Putting the cards away

Do you put it away with the face facing the moon or the back?
Ben Train

What a retarded question...

I thought.  But then I realized I always put the cards in backs facing the moon (non-flap side).

So I now I think:  What an interesting question from such a retarded fellow!
Liam

i do same as ben.
when i saw this, i thought it was going to be a thread about moving from card magic into something else during a routine, but nope.

Get the hell out Ben, lucky I saw this before the lecture today (which was AMAZING).

Any reason you put the back facing the moon? Assuming you take the cards out with the moon facing up, the spectators won't see the faces... Is that why? Or just out of habit.
Reuben The Great

I do the complete opposite.

And, why does anybody care? Because we're magicians- well at least you guys are, I'm just clownin' around.

Oh god, I smell bacon.

Jeff-

I do.  When the flap is up I couldn't do this: open the pack and peek inside to do a spot check (to check for, for instance, gaffs, special cards, etc).  It also allows me to pull out the deck without flashing the face of the deck (since it always comes out face-down (no chances for boo-boos if it's always the same way!).

There are other reasons, but those are the big ones (now it's just a habit for me, since I don't use a preset deck or gaffs as often).

Ahh, I see makes sense.
Michael Kras

I do it backs moon-side, faces flap-side. Sometimes this positioning is necessary as to not prematurely expose "something special", but it's mostly because I flick the flap out and let the deck slide into dealer's grip. I just like them to be face down.
