Instruments...(fill in "that's what she said" joke

Does anybody play any musical instruments? Anybody play any OBSCURE musical instruments?

I play the Trumpet in my high school senior jazz band, the guitar, the banjo and the tenor banjo. I know Mike played the clarinet, and of course (lol Mike) "...playing kazoo for Bruce Springsteen, I once filled in for Clarence's saxophone solo with kazoo. There wasn't a dry eye in the house."

Tell us! :0)

The kazoo... with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band. Touring was quite a ride!

I play the djembe, an African drum.

Hmm really? How does it sound?
Gary Dickson

Like a drum?  Probably best to youtube it.
Michael Kras

I meant what specific type of drum sound.... like a bongo, or a snare, or something else... high, low, etc, does it have range, that sort of thing.

I play guitar.

Well, it depends on the size of the drum and wood it is made out of and where the goat skin comes from.  They generally have a deep bass note a mid tone and a high pitched slap.  Skilled players can get sounds such as cracks and metallic bell like tones out of them.

I still reckon that the best way to get a sense of what a djembe sounds like is to youtube it.
