Grace Under PressureJust a little story of mine.... everybody has had a situation like this so please post your stories here!
A few days ago, in class, I was performing an effect for a group of my classmates that involved me finding a selected card in a magical manner, than concluding with a deck vanish (sounds disjointed but it's quite a nice routine). Anyways, to make the deck vanish I had previously pocketed the deck while misdirecting my audience. Then the vanish came, and everybody was blown away. I like to set my audiences up with my first effect being deliberately bland and implicitly magical then catch them off guard when I do something incredible. This was one of those times.
Anyways, the Grace Under Pressure part... One suspicious girl started to pat me down completely (not that I didn't enjoy it) and in a moment she felt the outside of my dirty pocket and clearly felt something deck-shaped was there. She assumed that was the deck. As she was playfully gloating to me about how she figured out the effect, I palmed my wallet off from my back pocket and stopped her dead in her tracks when, from her perspective, I pulled a wallet out of the pocket she felt to prove that was all that was there. Then, since my jacket consists of two pockets directly overlapping each other on each side, I pulled out the material of the clean pocket to show it was now empty. She was then completely bamboozled and curiously started looking at my desk saying "Well, where did you put that deck? While she was doing that I had the perfect opportunity to get rid of the deck in my pocket.
