Day 2- Friday June 5th, 2009.It's the Sabbath but I spoke to God and he said I could post anyway. Thanks G-G-G G-Unit!
I woke up at about 11am and left Tony's place at noon (he had left at 8am- some people have real jobs...). On my agenda? Just walking around New York.
Unfortuantly several crappy things happened. First, it rained ALL day, and didn't stop until about 9pm. Second, my cell phone went wanky and began turning itself on and off, meaning I couldn't make any calls to meet up with guys.
I didn't mind though. I braved the storms and visited a couple of cool stores, including Fantasma, and bought some new non-magic toys.
In the evening I was invited to a lecture by the A.M./P.M. team (Alex Pandrea and Jonathan Price).* It was a lot of fun and while I didn't get to spend anytime with Jon Alex showed me some really cool stuff. One that REALLY looked great was the Domino Effect. While not as unique as the add claims (after all- there have been numerous versions of the copper/silver with sugar packets, including Mike Close's excellent version in his Workers series) Alex has really added something pretty special, and I won't lie- I recoiled in surprise when I first saw it! In addition his coin fusion effect is pretty darn cool, and his hold-out will make you laugh.
Oh, and he inspired me to work on a trick with a lighter... looked great in his hands!
I also got the chance to say hello to some people I had not seen in a while, including Dr. Ken Krenzel and Wesley James. It was pretty fun!
After the lecture we went out (my, Tony, Alex, and John- different John-) to see Hung Over. Funny movie but it was ruined a little by this asshole falling asleep and snoring beside us. We tried to wake him up (Tony slapped him and yelled "wake up!" so loudly that the whole theater burst out in laughter) but we couldn't. I can only assume he was doped up on something.
Ah, New York.
We just got in and it's 3:45 am. I need to crash because tomorrow is a crazy magic day. You're going to want to hear all about it.
