An idea

Heres an idea, and I'm wondering if its been done.

Effect: The magician takes a pack of gum and pops out one of the capsules and shows the piece of gum. He then puts the piece back in the case and seals the capsule so its like new.

I'm working on some methods, any ideas?
Michael Kras

That's very interesting... perhaps a bluff? A fingerpalmed piece of gum and a little bit of rattling the foil might pull it off... other than that I will have to think a while before anything good comes to me. What do you have in mind?

I was thinking about that, but that doesn't fit the requirements I want for it. I want the specs to be able to visibly see the empty capsule, and the piece of gum out of it.

Like I said I have a few methods I'm working on. I'd like to keep them to myself for now until I think they are worthy of sharing.

As I explain to ALL new folks attempting to create magic; think of the effect you want first, then dig through the books and experiment with different methods and approaches... try to cultivate at least a half-dozen versions to the concept without limiting yourself on what can and can't be done at first.

Over time you will begin seeing things you aren't seeing just yet and eventually you'll find the perfect solution... it takes time, effort and patience as well as the willingness to start all over again. Wink

Thats what I've been doin, thanks for the advice Craig.

Ethan,
That's a good idea but it's been done before a couple of times. I can't give you any specifics at the time but check around and you will find it.

This is a great fact that is the bane of all creative minds, especially in magic; the fact that 90% of what we come up with really has been done before e.g. our challenge is to find what makes our version better and/or cleaner than the other versions.  That is how magic evolves which is the obligation of you younger guys out there. My generation has been credited with some of the most amazing innovations in magic since the early 20th century and the days of Sielbit or even the mid-century era of Robert Harbin.  Given the new information you guys have compared to us, the new technologies now available to you, it's hard for most to imagine where you could take this craft within the course of your lifetime.

Just don't give up and keep on plug'n away at your creativity.  That's the real secret to it all; constantly pursue the tools that will educate and inspire you and constantly challenge yourself.

Keep up the good work guys Wink
