A Funny Story I Think You'll EnjoyHello All!
Well, my mom just returned from Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic... judging by the photos she shoed me, the place is a freaking island paradise with palm trees, sand everywhere, and beautiful blue skies... anyways, she was staying in a luxury resort and within, along the sand, there were a few straw huts that acted as little shops. Owners of these shops would come out, announce their wares to attract customers, and try to single out individual beach-walkers to come in and check things out. So my mom was a target.
A man came out of his hut and, in poor english, said "Canadian woman, come into my shop! It is a MAGICAL shop."
My mom replied, "Really? Well, my son is a magician, what do you have for that?"
Suddenly, the man looked frightened and, clearly shocked, said to my mom "YOUR SON IS MAGICIAN?" upon which he lead her into the shop and suddenly handed her a handful of beautifully made necklaces with hand-carved wooden faces, cylindrically shaped, hanging on black cord.
He gave her about four of five of these necklaces and said "Take them, for free, and wear one... it will keep you safe. And give some to your son too. Just take them!!!!"... apparently the intent of these necklaces is to ward off black magic.
I had a good laugh over that... wonder how he would have reacted if I was there alongside her with cards in hand  .
