Alright, here's the object of the game: I will start by giving two very different magic effects, and you must relate the two in a logical, simple, and meaningful manner... What's the point of this, you ask? Well, as magicians (particularly in formal performance) a flow in routining is very much necessity, connecting each routine so your entire performance flows as a whole instead of "a guy performing a bunch of tricks".
FOR EXAMPLE: Connecting Ambitious Card and Twisting The Aces(I'm wining this so I apologize for it's poor quality)- "As you can see, some cards in the deck are very thick-skinned, love being on top, and are in general very ambitious. BUT some cards are pretty shy, they don't like to be the center of attention and they keep to themselves... for example, the Queens" (go into Twisting the Aces from here, with a "shyness" plot)
Ok, so for starters... connect The Vanishing Bandana and Snowstorm in China (yes, I do already have my own segue, I just am curious to see what you all come up with).
Whoever answers the preceding gets to pose the next connection challenge. ONLY THE PERSON who solved the previous challenge first can propose the next.

I'm sorry, say what now? Answers the question correctly? How many solutions are there? Is it finite? |

The nerve... how dare you attempt to contradict someone and introduce critical thought on a magic forum? Get the moderator in here to smack this kid upside the head!
But, since we're on that tangent anyway. I challenge the assumption that you even need to have transitions between pieces. If we are to play this game you should justify why these transitions are a necessity. You should probably also justify why you are trying to segue between a serious piece of classical magic and a lame piece of comedy magic in the first place. |

I'm playing along...
For a connection between the vanishing bandana ans Snowstorm, I would talk about portals.
"Magicians can create portals. For example, I can create a portal inside my fist that goes to China and put the bandana through it.
But the portal can also bring something from China. I think it's snowing in China, actually. I hope that doesn't interfere." _________________

I agree with this, but perhaps we ought to bring that discussion to another thread and leave this one to the game that Michael proposed just for the sake of a game?
If you'd like to have a discussion about this, as I would, and I'm sure Ben and perhaps others might, feel free to start up a thread in either In This Corner or The Sessions. _________________ Click here to check out my brand new Ebooks!

It wasn't intended as just a flat-out game perse, just a test for learning purposes. Sure, go ahead, explain why the segues are jusitified, but that's not the object of this thread. I didn't want to get that deep here, I just want to see how people would connect two very different effects in a logical manner. _________________ Michael Kras

My answer- I wouldn't link them.
I'd do one or the other, or, if I HAD to do both, I would have a transition piece in between them.
I'm thinking an ace assembly. That way the show has NO cohesiveness!

UGH, please allow me to clarify one more time... this is not intended as a brainstorm for act compilations. It's simply a challenge, this IS the creativity forum after all.
