I don't usually get excited when lecturers come to Toronto.  I enjoy them, and I'm excited for OTHER reasons (especially if I am organizing the event!) but usually I go knowing that if I miss the event it won't be the end of the world (that said, I attend virtually EVERY lecture, even the ones I know will be shit- because they ALL make me a better magician).

But for Giobbi's workshop, limited to 20 people, I was pumped.

And, he didn't disappoint.

Giobbi discussed Vernon's philosophies (with David Ben, the foremost expert on all things Vernon, there to offer his advice as well), tricks, and concepts.

Add in the fact that the lecture was held in Magicana, the home to the largest collection of Vernon material on the planet, and it was a pretty amazing night.

I learnt how to structure material better, how to think about construction, how to establish effect, think like a pro, improve the magic I do now, and learnt to appreciate certain routines I've overlooked in the past (and, of course, I learnt things about Vernon I hadn't known before).

I also learnt some SICK tricks, killer techniques, and several great presentational lines.

For those that missed it, sucks for you.

But, the good news is this-

Josh Jay will be holding a four hour workshop, limited to about 10 people, August 30th 2008.  Josh will teach some killer material, talk theory, and help you become a better magician.

Also, pretty cool, is that since the workshop is at my home I won't be kicking people out after- some workshops have gone an extra SIX hours just jamming!

Add in some food, drinks, and a lot of fun, and it's going to be THE event of the summer.

Tickets still available!
Ben

Great review of the Giobbi event! I'm sorry I missed it, but there's so much magic packed into this summer! It's hard to make it to everything. Mead... I am so there.

By the way, Ben, I'll be giving you my admission fee, as Dan McClean cannot make it and has graciously given me his spot at the lecture. I just need to get the money passed on to him, so up at SS would be perfect. I hope that's alright Smile
