I'm not sure if I am allowed to do this, but I'd like to propose an informal contest. I was inspired by Ben's recent one.
The theme is this: Come up with an effect involving a phone. It should be completely original and center around the one thing most people can't live without - their cell phone. It can be borrowed or yours. But make the effect interesting. Not just a card reveal on the screen or in the battery. Maybe it would be more interesting if the spectator received a text message with their card or thought, but anyway just try to make it original.
Methods are not necessary, but if you have one and you want to post it, that's great.
I will choose a winner (if this is okay with Mike and everyone else) in a few days. I don't have the money or authority to give a prize, but the winner will get a cyber-five.

I had played with this idea years ago:
You have a background of a coin on your phone. You pluck it of, screen goes black, you're holding a real coin.
You do this twice more, so that you're holding 3 coins (each time showing a coin on phone, screen goes black, etc). They coins vanish and when the phone is shown there are three coins in the picture.
This was the first thing I came up with using the phone (wow, like 7 years ago).

I did something similar.... I played with having a photo of a full-sized quarter on my phone, and quickly doing Sankey's "Hobbit Move" to create the illusion of the coin VISUALLY jumping off the screen, complete with an audible clink. The screen was then empty. It looked super-cool but I stopped doing it for fear of scratching my phone screen (I was bouncing a quarter off it every time, after all)
