I didn't get to sleep until very late last night, because I was foolish and decided to watch the Karate Kid when I got home last night.

Silly, silly Ben.

So, me and Tony left the house at 1 today and went to the Ipod store, where we ran into non other then Francis Ford Coppola, the legendary director of the Godfather series.  That was wicked cool.

Then we headed down town for the gathering of Magician's at some hole-in-the-wall pizza place.  Wes James was there and so was Doug Edwards (who I had never had the pleasure of meeting).  Things were "ok" until a bunch of young guys showed up, brought by my friends Derrick and Alex.

I have to say, and I'm being quite honest, that I haven't been so impressed with the quality of work in a long, long, time.

We didn't do many tricks (in fact, only Cheng and I did any) but the MOVES being discussed blew my mind.  Gary, for one, did some fantastic work with shifts and DPS, and I was actually awestruck by his chops.  Cheng blew me away with his coin work (and cards), Tony showed a great 4 for 4 switch (that I will be using) and other guys busted out some great stuff.

From there we went to China Town and sat in Columbus Park and jammed.  Me, Tony, Cheng, Ricky Smith, Jon, Alex, Derrick, and Spencer (who I expect will be doing a great job at the C.A.M. competition).

While we were there I started showing magic to the staff at one of the restaurants.  One guy told one of the ladies that he knew how it worked, because his friend was a magician, and cited the key card principal (which I hadn't used).  In a professional setting you have to be very careful on how to handle this.  In an impromptu setting though, where I was trying to have fun, I decided to go for the kill.  I did EVERYTHING possible to KILL the guy: I had him shuffle, think of a card, then shuffle again.  He held the cards.  He FELT something happen... well, I'd rather show you in person what happened next!

Afterwords we went to a pub and started showing magic too some people.  We picked up several girls (um, hells yah!) and blew people away all night.  I was honored to work with these guys, and mad props go out to Ricky for his laugh-your-ass-off funny shit

Apparently we did a good job.  When we went to pay people in the bar had paid our tab for us.  We were touched and thanked them all for their generosity.

Afterwords I headed home to sleep- it was 4am- and some of the other guys went out to party.  I have to be up tomorrow  for brunch though, so I had to make sacrifices.

Now I'm off to bed.

Night!
Ben
