Who do you prefer? I personally am a huge Blaine supporter. He's got skills and enough talent to make even the simplest effect so powerful and strong. I also find his sleight of hand skills far surpass that of Criss Angel. Also, Criss reeks of arrogance while David is one of the most humble magic celebrities I've ever seen.
Thoughts?

i agree that blaine is better, but i like playing devils advocate.
So i think Criss is better. His effects are simple so much stronger then any of Blaines. Maybe David Blaine can make cards transpose, but Criss Angel can walk through glass and levitate meters off the ground. Some people way that Criss hires spectators to act amazed. I think thats just part of the illusion. Its like you using a gimmik, in my opinion. |

Oh the modern classic debate. Much I choose between just these two? If I have to choose between them, I choose David Blaine. Even a year ago or so I would have said that I liked Criss Angel better, but this past year has been terrible for him. He's presented himself like a jerk in the magic community, and Mindfreak really bombed.
I've always considered David Blaine to be a much superior magician to Angel, though I never personally enjoyed the "mysterious stranger" persona. I will say that it definitely works for him. Garrett Thomas brought the following to my attention: When you hear people talk about Blaine or Angel, it's very different. People can't stop talking about Angel's tricks, but they never talk about him. When people talk about Blaine, they rarely mention any particular trick, but instead they obsess over him. It's the difference between "Did you see that one trick Angel did?" and "Did you see David Blaine?" Important difference for laypeople, I think. _________________ Click here to check out my brand new Ebooks!

Interesting thoughts, for sure. David's persona is very cool and I quite enjoy watching him... I remember being floored by the simplest effects solely because of his presentational skills. He can make anything magical. _________________ Michael Kras

I like blaine for what he did for magic (re awakening interest after a 10 year lull).
I can't stand angel, never could. _________________ If anyone lost a large roll of $100 bills wrapped in a rubber band. . .

I don't know, I like Blaine... there's something so pure and organic about his magic, he really knows how to sell the simplest effect too. I do admit, however, that recently he has become a tad bit of a sellout. I still ooze respect for the guy though. _________________ Michael Kras

Well, there's nothing to defend, is there? It's an opinion and as such is entirely subjective. But, my opinion is that they both suck although for different reasons. Blaine has the personality of a dead fish (at least on TV, anyway) and Angel? Well, he's a joke isn't he? I mean, he's not a real person, surely? The only good thing he's done is Sinful, and that's not even his!
