Any card worker uses some sort of colour change... Even multiple ones. But what is your favourite? The most visual one that is fun to perform and effective?

I've been known to use Marlo's "In Lieu of the Through-The-Fist Move", The Erdnase Change, The Flippant move, and the Illogical double lift. However, my favourite is undoubtedly The Erdnase. I've been doing it for years and, although it's somewhat of an implicit change, it FEELS explicit to spectators. Plus it is visually smooth and beautiful (if executed properly.)

Hi Mike,

Lets be the first forum to get away from calling it the Erdnase Change, as there are four changes in the book, and non of them are what we know refer to as the Erdnase Change.

So, here's a quick three part challenge to anyone here-

1.  What is the change actually called (FULL name)?
2.  Who is it credited to?
3.  Why is the first question important (several possible answers, including ones I haven't thought of!)?

On your ways!
Ben

I found it on page 154 of Erdnase but no credit is given. I will do a bit more research.

Ooh, ooh, The Two Handed Transformation, First Method!

I've heard it occasionally credited to Houdini, but I've also heard a respected historian or two scoff a the idea that Houdini actually created a card move. Doubtless Edwin Sumner Andrews performed it better anyways.

Though in this day and age, you're probably better off performing the variation entitled "Erdnase Plus Vernon" which is skillfully hidden somewhere in print.

Lol.

Ruling out Karr's guy?  I actually think he makes quite a bit of sense... but then again, so does Hatch.

Ben
p.s.
I agree about the Vernon handling.

I have also heard it credited to Houdini, but refuse to believe it. Does anybody know any definite reason why his name is credited alongside E.S?

I used to use the snap change, but it's pretty angle-sensitive and hard to ditch casually. Now I use a double lift change, the "Erdnase change" Rolling Eyes, the Flip-Flop Change, and Color by Daniel Madison (a variation of Shapeshifter.

just so you know teddy call it a variation of the perioutte change, because the shapeshifter is a variation of it
any thing where you flip a double real fast is a variation on the original pirouette change

Also a variant of Marlo's "In Lieu of the Through-The-Fist Move".

If people are interested in a history, let me know and I'll be happy to post it.
